Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has brought to public attention that there is an ongoing scam claiming to be selling land plots and flats in the company's name. 

HDC states that the company would under no circumstances send text messages, make phone calls or forward links to members of the public asking for information claiming land plot and flat sales. 

The company advices the public to be vigilant against such phishing attempts. 

This is not the first instance of scammers misusing HDC's identity. Previously, several scams falsely claimed that land and flats would be allocated under past housing schemes such as Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya. 

Police have also previously warned the public to avoid falling victim to such scams impersonating state institutions. The public is advised to avoid clicking on links sent by unknown numbers, and to avoid providing any personal information or funds to unknown callers who may claim to be representing various authorities.
