President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu established a company today to construct waqf properties across various regions of the Maldives for religious expenditure, as well as to build and repair such structures and mosques.

The President's Office stated that the company, established under the name "Maldives Awqaf Investments Limited," will carry out the construction of waqf buildings, build and repair mosques across various regions of the Maldives, renovate them, establish all necessary facilities for mosques and develop them, and sustainably conduct businesses permitted by Islamic Sharia.

While a new company has been established for waqf buildings, this government has decided to construct waqf buildings in various parts of the Maldives.

The first waqf building constructed in the Maldives is "Darul Eeman," built adjacent to Maafannu Madharuasa. The construction of the second building, "Darul Salaam," was commenced by RCC last month.

In addition, it has been decided to construct waqf buildings in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi, GDh. Thinadhoo, and Addu City as well.
