More than 70 houses in Feydhoo, Addu City, have been flooded following heavy rain since yesterday, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
NDMA said by this morning, several houses in Feydhoo have been affected by flooding, with damage also reported.
Eight people living in one of the affected houses have been evacuated to temporary shelter because of the flooding.

Two houses in Maradhoo, Addu City, have also been reported to have been flooded.
Heavy rain is expected to continue in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu atolls, as well as some parts of central Maldives. Heavy rain in Fuvahmulah has caused flooding across a large area of the island.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), police, local councils and members of the public are working together to drain flooded areas.

Authorities are also placing sandbags and taking other measures to prevent floodwater from entering homes, businesses and offices.
Adverse weather conditions are expected to continue over the next 24 hours.
Authorities have advised the public to closely monitor weather conditions, particularly when travelling by sea, and to take precautions to minimize the risk of flooding.
