Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu stated today that teachers are the ones who bring the greatest differences to a child's life.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Shaheed Ali School to inaugurate the 8th International Conference for Teachers, the Minister stated that the main purpose of holding such a conference is to connect policy changes, classroom practices, and research.
Urging participants to make the fullest use of the opportunity provided by the conference, which is taking place today and tomorrow, the Minister stated that true change can only be brought to a child through the work of teachers.

"Teachers are the ones who bring true change to a child. Teachers are truly the masterminds behind bringing a difference to a child, in collaboration with the child's guardians and parents," Ismail stated.
"If the power and discretion available to us to shape a child are restricted from being accessible to a teacher, a very important part is left out from a child's life."
The Minister urged principals of all schools to engage with the community with patience and wisdom, involve teachers in matters, and work closely with parents in running schools.
The Minister noted that such conferences undertake the necessary efforts to implement matters as successfully as possible, and that the government is also bringing about required changes to strengthen the education system in accordance with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's manifesto.

Furthermore, Minister Ismail stated that Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef's attendance to grace the conference demonstrates the priority the government places on teacher-related matters.
The ministry stated that 300 participants have registered to take part in the conference, out of whom 106 will present 70 presentations. The ministry also stated that keynote speeches will be delivered by Arun Rajamani, Managing Director of Cambridge University Press and Assessment, South Asia, and Dr. Mahmood Shougee, Chancellor of the National University.
