Seenu atoll Gan recorded the highest rainfall in the Maldives over the past 24 hours, according to the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET).
MET said a low-level circulation that formed as the Hulhangu monsoon comes to an end and the Iruvai monsoon begins brought heavy rain to most parts of the country over the past 24 hours.
Gan recorded 183mm of rainfall, the highest in the past 24 hours. Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo recorded the second-highest amount at 87.6mm, followed by Hulhulé with 51.2mm.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said flooding had affected several islands in Addu City, with island councils, the Maldives National Defence Force and police working together to drain floodwater.
More than 30 houses in Addu Feydhoo have been affected by rainwater entering homes, the agency said.
NDMA is also working with Addu City Council to provide temporary shelter and essential assistance to a family of eight, including two people with special needs.
