The 38th National Quran Competition began last night.
During the opening ceremony held at the Islamic Center, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef said that the up-and-coming generation being taught the knowledge of Quran, the beautiful habits of reciting the Quran being instilled in the hearts of children and them being brought up close to the Quran is an important responsibility that should be upheld by the community.
Instead of focusing on the results of the competition, the Vice President urged everyone to encourage maintaining the affection children have in their hearts toward the Quran.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments said that the competition is being held after major changes were brought to the framework.
One of the changes is holding auditions across 20 regions in Maldives, along with the Male' region. 2,742 participants recited during the audition, with 379 students going to the semi-final.
The semi-final will be held from today until Monday, and the final will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Islamic Ministry highlighted President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's government prioritizes raising the standards of the National Quran Competition and making it a remarkable competition.
