Relevant authorities have begun operations as two large vessels are drifting near Malé.

The incident was reported to the police and the coast guard at around 10:00 tonight.

It is understood that the two large vessels, which had been anchored near Dhoonidhoo, drifted away after their anchors snapped amid strong winds.

The two vessels have entered the lagoon from the northern side of Malé, passing under the Sinamalé Bridge near the Citron Restaurant.

However, it is not yet known whether they collided with the bridge and caused any damage.

Further details regarding the incident are not yet clear as the coast guard is active in the area.
