The Australia Maldives Friendship Association (AMFA) is gearing up to hold the first "Maldives Junior Lifeguard Program" in Maldives on Saturday.
The lifeguarding program is being held in collaboration with 'Water Patrol Australia" initially at K. Thulusdhoo. The program will be held at the island from Saturday to Monday.
The program will be held at Fuvahmulah from Wednesday to Friday.
24 participants from each island have been given the opportunity to take part in the first program.
As per AMFA, the curriculum for the program has been created based on three parts. They are identifying ocean conditions, identifying the dangers of currents and waves, and training to save people with rescue boards. First aid, CPR, leadership skills and information about marine ecosystem protection will also be taught, said the association.

An official from AMFA said that the program will be made available to the entirety of Maldives from next year onward.
