The rank of President's Office Chief of Staff, Abdulla Fayaz, has been elevated to the level of Senior Minister.

President's Office Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) stated tonight that Fayaz's position was elevated within this week.

Shareef also stated that he was elevated to the rank of Senior Minister.

The first person appointed by this government at the level of Senior Minister was current Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem. After he was elected as a member of the Parliament, no other person has held a position at the Senior Minister rank.

Fayaz was appointed to the position of President's Office Chief of Staff in 2023.

Fayaz resigned from his position as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport in 2020, after previously serving in that role during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration.

Fayaz has also served as a Deputy Minister of the Housing Ministry while President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was serving as the Housing Minister.
