Ahmed Shaheer has been appointed as Chairperson of Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) yesterday. 

The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) confirmed that Shaheer, of M. Laalubaag, has been appointed as Chairman and member of the Director's Board of MTDC. 

Shaheer served as Chairman at Housing Development Corporation from May 2025 to last week. 

This administration first appointed him as Chairman of Fenaka Corporation. He was dismissed from the position in August, 2024. 

Shaheed spent a large part of his career at STO. During his 29 years at STO, he worked as Head of Procurement until he was later appointed Managing Director. 

The post of Chairman at MTDC was most recently filled by Abdulla Faiz. Faiz, who served at MTDC from 2017 onwards, was transferred to MIFCO as Chairman last week.
