The government has decided to launch a national initiative to promote respect, with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu making the announcement today.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the President's Office today, the President stated that a paper to draft the national initiative on showing respect was submitted to the Cabinet yesterday. He added that the paper was prepared following consultations with numerous parties, including non-governmental organizations and associations.

"The mention of a national initiative to promote respect is not just a casual remark. This is something we want to undertake with great seriousness," the President said.

The President stated that a plan, budget, and timeline to execute the national campaign on showing respect have also been compiled. He noted that this work was carried out through extensive consultation.

"Therefore, the project has now received Cabinet approval and was passed yesterday to begin implementation. God willing, with the support of all citizens across the Maldives, we will launch this five-year national initiative on showing respect," the President said.

The President stated that opposition political parties were the only ones who failed to respond to the government's efforts to consult all stakeholders during this work. He added that this was a matter of regret.
