Arrangements have been made where StatePharma can now instantly check the stock of medication at pharmacies.

A media official from the company told Mihaaru News that they can easily look into the medication that is available at every pharmacy in Maldives as they are now interconnected. The official said that because of this, they will be able to quickly import the medication that runs out of stock and send them to pharmacies.

The official went on to say that the system where the public can check medicine stocks will be completed within two to three months.

"We are trying to make it so that the public can search for the medication by name or upload their prescription so that they will know where they can get it and how much it costs," said the official.

StatePharma Managing Director Dr. Shah Mahir stated previously that one of the reasons why there is a medication crisis is because no one had access to the information for the medication that is stocked at pharmacies. 

Shah said that once the system is operational, it will make it easier to import the medication Maldives requires early on, and that it will be easier to do bulk-focused quantity orders once the type and number of medications are known.

Previously, it was STO that imported medication to Maldives. However, in order to solve the medication shortage, a new company was formed in September 2025, with all pharmacies being brought under the company in July 2026.
