Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has today begun accepting applications to complete medical internships.

IGMH said in an announcement today that doctors who wish to join the 13th Internship Round can send applications before September 24 to the National Health Care Academy established at the hospital. Forms will be accepted on official working days between 9am and 12pm. 

The internship is scheduled to commence on October 11. 

Applicants are required to submit attested copies of their MBBS certificates. The copy must be accredited by the Maldives Qualification Authority. Also required is a copy of a Police Clearance Certificate, and Certificate of Provisional Medical Registration from the Maldives Medical and Dental Council. 

Although IGMH generally accepts 15 interns per intake, this year the number has been increased to 24 interns. 

The announcement said that if applications exceed the available slots, precedence will be given based on time since completion of MBBS. 

As per the new pay framework for doctors, intern doctors will receive an allowance of MVR 10,000.

Medical internships are also offered at Addu Equatorial Hospital and Hulhumale' Hospital. Amongst private hospitals, ADK Hospital also offers medical internships.
