Ruling People's National Congress (PNC) Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah has urged former President Abdulla Yameen to isolate himself on an uninhabited island and deeply ponder who he wishes to be aligned with politically.

Speaking at a PNC rally at the party hub last night, Falah responded to Yameen's remarks about party members, saying all PNC members are in high spirits as they belong to a party which he described as being the best-run in the country. Falah added that they have no interest in engaging with Yameen's taunts.

"We have no intention of arguing with Yameen. I suggest that Yameen goes to an uninhabited island, without taking Jameel and Maleeh along. To stay isolated there for a couple of days and think deeply," Falah said.

What Falah proposed that Yameen think about is whether it would be more beneficial if President Dr Mohamed Muizzu won the 2028 presidential elections, or if the MDP did.

"There are two options. One is, whether he wants to remain at home, and the other is whether he wants to return back to being confined where he was in Maafushi once again. I do not think he would desire a return to Maafushi," Falah said.

Falah was referring to the time Yameen spent imprisoned in Maafushi prison after a Criminal Court conviction during the Ibrahim Mohamed Solih administration. Yameen was later freed following the High Court voiding the verdict.

"Usually, if MDP comes to power then this place [cells reserved for past presidents in Maafushi Prison] is designed to be very uncomfortable, to keep Yameen in," Falah said.

Falah asserted that the incumbent government is maintaining this area very well.

Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla also levied strong criticisms and allegations against Yameen during last night's rally.

He responded to Yameen's continuous claims that PNC's MPs lack autonomy and said that when a past president compares the parliament to a 'dog cage', it only exhibits his own arrogance.

It was arrogance, ego, brutality, tyranny and lawlessness that had ultimately led to Yameen's downfall, Abdul Raheem claimed.

Abdul Raheem went on to assert that the PNC remains committed to ensuring a second term is secured for President Muizzu. He added that Yameen would not be able to create rifts within the PNC regardless of what he attempted.
