Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced that they are now accepting applications from residents of flats under their care to repair railings on balconies and windows to strengthen safety measures. 

In an announcement issued today, HDC said that the company has decided to assist residents of flats under their oversight to strengthen safety and protection in their housing units. 

The corporation said that this initiative is being taken under guidance from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and will fall under their corporate social responsibility activities. 

HDC asks residents interested in taking up the offer to apply before 12pm on September 30. 

The initiative comes after the recent tragic death of a two year old who fell from the 12th floor of a STELCO Flats tower. In an other similar incident, a 16 year old fell from a Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation tower, but is now in stable condition, according to the hospital.
