The Ministry of Transport held discussions with the police and HDC to improve traffic conditions in Hulhumalé and to find swift solutions to recurring traffic problems.

The Ministry of Transport stated that during the meeting, discussions were held identifying the current traffic situation in Hulhumalé and the challenges in resolving traffic issues, alongside immediate measures that can be taken and ways to resolve emerging problems.

While discussions were held to solve Hulhumalé's traffic issues, the nine-year-old child who was critically injured in an accident that occurred last Saturday night near Vinares 7 in Hulhumalé Phase 2 has passed away.

After analyzing CCTV footage of the area, police stated that the accident occurred when a motorcycle hit a person walking to get into a car parked near Vinares 7.

The motorcycle involved in the accident was driven by an 18-year-old female. She is the aunt of the child who was critically injured. She also received various injuries and was treated at the hospital.

Upon impact, the child fell onto the road and sustained severe head injuries. Witnesses reported that while the child lay unconscious, a significant amount of blood was flowing from the head.

Following the accident, police towed two cars. According to police, the yellow car and the white car visible in photos of the area where the accident occurred were towed to gather evidence required for the investigation.

In addition to this accident, several other accidents have also occurred recently in Hulhumalé.
