Nine Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in Malé on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Police stated that they were arrested last Tuesday during an operation jointly conducted by Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence.
Police also stated that upon arresting the individuals and searching a guesthouse in Malé connected to them, items suspected to be drugs were found. However, details regarding the items found were not disclosed.
Those arrested in connection with this case are:

- MD Abu Zaber Pramanik, 37
- MD Usman, 23
- Mohamed Bablu Ali, 34
- MD Raihan, 32
- Afranul Hoque Ashik, 34
- Mohamed Rakib Hossain, 30
Police stated that after completing procedural formalities, all individuals have now been handed over to Immigration.
In an operation conducted jointly by GA. Atoll Police, Counter Narkotics Intelligence, and Drug Enforcement, 17.7 kg of drugs were recovered from two houses in GA. Maamendhoo, and two people were also arrested last Wednesday under suspicion of involvement in that case.
In a drug operation conducted yesterday in Malé as well, three youths were arrested on suspicion of possessing over a kilogram of drugs and drug-laced vape cartridges.
Police stated that during a search of a house in Maafannu as part of that operation, 1.7 kg of suspected drugs, 230 vape cartridges, 26 bottles of vape flavorings, and a bottle of alcohol were found.
