Applications opened for positions on PNC's Supreme Council

Only members under the age of 36 are eligible to apply for positions in the youth categories.

The opportunity to apply for positions on the PNC's Supreme Council has been opened.

The party stated that the deadline for submitting applications for these positions is next Tuesday, and that submissions must be made online.

In accordance with the party's basic regulation, the party's Supreme Council meeting is scheduled to take place from the 15th to the 18th of this month.

Positions to be elected for the Supreme Council and the number of members to be elected:

  • Vice President of the party: 6 members
  • Members of the General Council: 18 members
  • Female members of the General Council: 10 members
  • Youth members of the General Council: Seven members
  • President of the Women's Wing: One member
  • Vice President of the Women's Wing: One member
  • Secretary of the Women's Wing: One member
  • Treasurer of the Women's Wing: One member
  • President of the Youth Wing: One member
  • Vice President of the Youth Wing: One member
  • Secretary of the Youth Wing: One member
  • Treasurer of the Youth Wing: One member

Only registered party members who do not have a record of a serious criminal offense are eligible to apply for these positions. Additionally, the police record and criminal record submitted by applicants must not be older than one month.

Furthermore, only members under the age of 36 are eligible to apply for positions in the youth categories.

The PNC is currently the party with the largest membership in the Maldives.

According to figures from the Elections Commission, over 67,000 members were registered with the party as of last June. However, the party has stated that its membership has now reached 70,000.
