President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated tonight that around 2,000 additional employees will be hired in the health sector this year.

In the "Rayyithunge Adu" (Voice of the People) program, where the President meets with individual citizens, a medical officer working in the Emergency Department of Hulhumalé Hospital shared several complaints regarding the hospital with the President.

Among those concerns was the lack of employees relative to the population seeking services.

In response to these concerns, the President stated that a decision has been made to recruit additional staff solely for the health sector. He stated that around 2,000 additional employees would be hired for the health sector across the entire Maldives.

The President stated that two additional GP clinics will be established in Hulhumalé 1 and Hulhumalé 2 to treat general illnesses and provide minor medical care. He noted that once the work on these two facilities is completed, additional staff will be recruited.

The doctor noted that challenges escalated when many medical officers resigned around last December to pursue further studies. Therefore, the doctor who expressed concern mentioned that a request for additional staff recruitment was made at that time.

Responding to this, the President stated that efforts to recruit additional staff are currently underway.

The President's Office announces in advance the opportunity for the public to request meetings directly with the President to present their complaints, concerns, and suggestions. From among those who submit forms, participants receive 10 minutes to discuss these matters with the President. This marked the third episode conducted under this initiative.
