86 percent of the expenditure incurred so far from this year's approved budget was spent on paying salaries and running offices, according to figures from the Finance Ministry.

According to those figures, MVR 26 billion was spent on recurrent expenditure. Of that amount, MVR 10 billion was spent on employee salaries and allowances. Additionally, MVR 16 billion was spent on running offices.

This is an 18 percent increase compared to last year's expenditure. Last year, MVR 22 billion was spent on recurrent expenditure. Of that, MVR 9 billion was spent on paying salaries.

So far this year, MVR 30 billion has been spent. Including payments made toward debt servicing, a total of MVR 41 billion has been spent from the budget. To date this year, the state has received MVR 28 billion as revenue.

Parliament approved MVR 64 billion for this year's budget. Consequently, 64 percent of the total budget has now been spent. There is MVR 23 billion remaining to spend over the final four months.

From this year's budget, MVR 3.8 billion was spent on executing projects and other capital expenditures. Furthermore, MVR 13 billion has been spent from the budget so far to service debt and settle financing expenses.
