Male' City Council started painting double yellow lines on street corners of Male' yesterday to stop vehicles from parking. The lines indicate that parking in those spaces is prohibited.

As per the council's website, the council's decision comes from their attempt to stop traffic congestion that occurs due to people parking on street corners in Male', with the effort having started yesterday.

The council said that as part of their efforts, double yellow lines have been painted on the corners of the roads connecting to M. Fulooniya Magu, indicating that it is prohibited to park in those spaces.

Mayor of Male' Adam Azim stated that major traffic congestion has become an issue in Male' due to people parking on street corners. He also said that parking will not be allowed in the painted areas and is strictly prohibited.

Male' City Council said this is an important effort to make Male's roads easier and peaceful for pedestrians and vehicles. The council went on to say these lines will be painted in various parts across Male' moving forward.

Vehicles being parked on street corners have resulted in traffic congestion and occurrence of dangerous accidents.
