Abdulla Faiz, Ma. Manaage, a business expert was appointed today as the chairperson of the state fisheries company, MIFCO.

Faiz is an individual with over 30 years of experience in business and the development of the Maldivian tourism sector.

He is also someone who previously served as the chairman of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). Faiz was appointed to that position on February 13, 2019, during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

In addition to chairpersons of MTDC, Faiz has also served as chairperson of STO.

During his long service in the business sector, Faiz held several senior positions in major state and private companies.

These include the positions of Managing Director of ADK Trade and Shipping, Director to the Chairman of Villa Shipping and Trading, and Director of Marketing and Promotions at Villa Hotels.

Faiz also served as the Secretary General of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has also held senior positions in the hospitality, logistics, catering, and investment sectors.

Faiz is among the founders of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Maldives Traders Association, Maldives Association of Construction Industry (MACI), and the Restaurant Association of Maldives.

In addition to being a life member of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2001, he has also served as a vice president of the organization.

Faiz obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Australian Institute of Business.
