ADK Hospital has stated that the 19-year-old woman who was brought to the hospital in a serious condition after the gas leak incident in Male' last week has stabilized.

A 51-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman were found in the gas leak incident on Thursday on the second floor of Ma. Astral on Dhilkusha Goalhi (Scoop Goalhi).

Zahidha Thaufeeq, 51, of RS 6210, Male', was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital. The condition of her 19-year-old child was serious and was transferred from Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) to ADK Hospital to be treated in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

ADK Hospital Managing Director Ahmed Afaal told Mihaaru News today that the woman has been admitted and is being treated, with her condition having stabilized. 

On the day of the incident, residents reported a strong smell of gas in the area.

The exact cause of the incident has not yet been established.
