The 9 year old girl who suffered critical injuries in Saturday's accident in Hulhumale' Phase 2 has passed away early this morning. 

Zeeva Sinan Ahmed, of M. Lemon Tree 1, had been a Grade 3 student at Billabong International School. 

The fatal accident occurred at around 9pm on Saturday in front of the Vinares flats in Hulhumale' Phase 2 when a motorcycle crashed into a pedestrian and a car. 

Zeeva had been the passenger on the motorcycle. The collision caused Zeeva to be thrown on the road, where she sustained serious head injuries. She was initially taken to the Hulhumale' Hospital, but was later transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital for further treatment. She was kept on ventilator support and had been treated in the Intensive Care Unit. 

After viewing CCTV footage from the area, police said that the accident occurred when the motorcycle hit a person who had been crossing the road to get into an idling car. 

The driver of the motorcycle was the 18 year old aunt of Zeeva. She, too, sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident. 

As part of the investigation into the accident, police have towed two cars for the purpose of gathering evidence.
