President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Jameela Ali Khalid as the Maldives’ high commissioner to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Jameela received her letter of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning.

She has held several government positions and most recently served as an ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Jameela was the Maldives’ first resident ambassador to Germany, serving from 2017 to 2019. She also served as Vice-President of the Civil Service Commission.

The post of high commissioner to the UK became vacant after Iruthisham Adam was appointed Foreign Minister in April.
