The court today ordered the man arrested yesterday in connection with assaulting a car owner in Fuvahmulah, snatching the car, and causing accidents while driving it, to be remanded in custody for 15 days for investigation purposes.

The person arrested in this case is Ahmed Aunullah of Miskitmagu, Andaazu, Fuvahmulah.

Police stated today that yesterday evening at around 6:22 PM, a report was submitted to the police regarding "a car driving in front of Fuvahmulah Moodige that hit a motorcycle, caused an accident, and without stopping, proceeded to crash into another car traveling on the same road as well as a coconut palm tree."

The woman riding the motorcycle hit by the car and the eight-year-old girl sitting on the back sustained various injuries. Following the incident, they were treated at the Fuvahmulah Hospital, and police stated that neither suffered serious injuries.

Following the accident, 35-year-old Aunullah, who was driving the car, was arrested.

Regarding the case, police stated that the driver of the car is suspected of being under the influence. Additionally, police stated that investigations revealed the accidents were caused after he forcefully snatched the car from its owner upon threatening to destroy the vehicle.

The two cars and the motorcycle involved in the incident sustained varying degrees of damage.
