Police have towed two cars as part of the investigation into the accident near Vinares flats in Hulhumale' last night which left a 9 year old girl critically injured. 

A police media official confirmed that two cars have been towed for the purpose of obtaining evidence for the investigation into last night's accident. The two cars are a yellow car and a white car which can be seen in photos of the scene at the time of the accident. 

 The accident occurred when a motorcycle driving down Hithigas Magu crashed into a passenger who was crossing the street to get into an idling car, police said after viewing CCTV footage.

The accident caused critical injuries to a 9 year old girl who had been the passenger on the involved motorcycle. The child is currently under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.

The motorcycle had been driven by an 18 year old female, the aunt of the injured child. She, too, sustained varying levels of injuries.

On collision, the child was thrown on to the road and sustained serious head injuries, causing loss of consciousness and heavy bleeding.
