A man has attacked another individual, stolen their car and crashed into a motorcycle, another car and a coconut palm in Fuvahmulah.

Police stated yesterday that around 6:22 pm, "a case where a car drove past Moodige, Fuvahmulah and straight into a motorcycle, continued driving and crashed into another car and a tree" was reported to them.

Police said that there was a woman and an 8-year old girl on the motorcycle involved in the collision that had sustained varied injuries and are being treated at Fuvahmulah Hospital. While referring to the hospital, the police said they did not suffer any serious injuries.

The driver of the car who was driving recklessly was a 35-year old man and has been brought into custody, police said.

"Our current investigation shows that the driver of the car is suspected to have been under the influence of drugs. Our investigation also shows that he attacked the owner of the car, warned that he would destroy it and forcibly took it from the owner," wrote the police in their message.

The two cars and motorcycle in the incident saw different degrees of damage and further investigation will be conducted, said the police.
