President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has offered his condolences to His Excellency Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway, with the passing of His Majesty King Harald V.

The President's Office stated that the president expressed deep sorrow in his message upon the passing of the King of Norway and that he extended the deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the government and the people of Norway on behalf of the Maldivian government and its people.

The President's Office said the president wrote in his message that the King of Norway passed after having served his country his entire life, and that he proved his leadership and will be remembered as someone who loved and worked for the welfare of his people.

The President's Office also said the president wrote that the passing of the king is not only a great loss to Norway, it is also a great loss to those who admired his commitment and distinguished service. The president also wrote that he hopes the memories of the king bring strength to the Royal Family and to all those who are grieving.

His Majesty King Harald V passed at the age of 89 while being treated at the University of Oslo.

The 53-year-old Crown Prince of Norway Haakon VIII has been named the new King of Norway under the title "King Haakon VIII".

His Majesty King Harald V took the throne 35 years ago in 1991 and has conducted many major efforts to modernize the Royal Family. Even though he faced many health difficulties, he always said that his oath to serve his nation is an oath he took for the rest of his life.
