An Indian man who attempted to enter Velana International Airport using a pass issued by the Aviation and Port Security Command to another person has been arrested.

Sanjeeva Reddy Yelma, 45, was arrested and produced before the court. The remand order issued by the Criminal Court today, which extended his detention by 15 days, stated that Sanjeeva attempted to enter through Gate 51 on the eastern side of the airport. According to the order, he is a person legally employed in the Maldives.

However, while he tried to enter the airport using a pass issued to another foreigner, the order noted that the pass belonged to an individual whose work visa had been canceled.

The order extending the remand of Sanjeev, who was arrested on suspicion of attempting to enter a place without permission, stated that a certain amount of evidence has been presented suggesting he committed the act.

Sanjeev, who tried to enter the airport using an access control pass issued to another person, told the court that the pass he used was one given to him by his "boss."

However, considering the existence of evidence suggesting the crime was committed and the possibility of a threat to public safety from him, the judge decided to extend his detention by 15 days.
