A number of students participating in the ongoing cadet camp at Addu Feydhoo School have been admitted to the hospital and began receiving treatment today due to food poisoning.
A senior official with knowledge of the matter stated that a total of 24 students are currently receiving treatment for food poisoning. This includes 12 students admitted and receiving treatment at Feydhoo Health Centre and 12 at Maradhoo Health Centre.
"Issues of stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea have been noted in these children. They are currently under observation," the official said.
Although they are admitted and receiving treatment, it is not yet known what caused the children's food poisoning. Information regarding the caterer for the camp could also not be clarified.
While this round of cadet camps concluded yesterday at some schools, it is being conducted for three days at most schools. Tomorrow is the final day of the camp.
