Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) commenced work on two 15-story towers under the social housing project “Hiyaa” on Sunday.
In a ceremony held in the area allocated for the new towers, MWSC’s managing director Ibrahim Fazul said that there will be 384 apartments in total, with single, double and triple rooms in these towers.
The project was handed over to a Chinese company, 23rd Metallurgical Construction Group Co.,Ltd of Minmetals company on Contractor Finance basis. However, the amount it was awarded for was not revealed.
Fazul said that there are approximately 700 staff in the company and that they will be able to provide flats to 50 percent of them under this project. He added that the regulations for giving flats will be announced in the coming week at that it will be affordable.
MWSC stated that both the towers will be complete in about two years.
