State Minister of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Ahmed Nazim stated last night that the list allocating flats and plots to people under the current government's first housing project will be released this December and that efforts are ongoing to reach this deadline.
Under the “Boahiyaavahikan Emmenah” scheme, the application period for plots and flats in the Greater Male' region closed on June 15. A total of 58,505 applications were submitted through the Boahiyaavahikan Portal, including 35,930 applications for flats and 22,575 for plots.
The ministry stated that during the form verification stage, the applicant will be informed via the "Boahiyaavahikan Portal" if the information provided on the application forms do not match the information sent from government administrations and councils to the ministry.
If the notice in the portal states that the information that was provided is not legitimate, the applicant will be given a 7-day period to submit the relevant details and documents.
While speaking on PSM News's "Raajje Miadhu" program, Nazim said that public cooperation is needed to publish the flat list in December.
And so, he requested that the information provided be corrected via the portal if any information does not match.
Nazim went on to say that a lot of people waited until the last minute during the flat and plot application submission period and advised to make submissions ahead of time.
"We noticed that a lot of people waited until the last minute to submit their applications where they were submitted three days before the deadline. In those three days, our call center and hotline experienced a high increase in traffic, especially on the last day. If everyone works with the ministry ahead of time, adequate work will be done within these seven days, with the applicant's rights being observed without issue," said Nazim.
According to Nazim, while cross-verification efforts are ongoing, any announcements will be made through the portal. He requested everyone to check the Boahiyaavahikan Portal regularly.
"We will only communicate through the portal. It is important that everyone checks the Boahiyaavahikan Portal. Responses are to be submitted via the portal as well."
Nazim said that when everything is done through the portal, information tracking will become much easier as well.
“When submissions are made by email or letter, they have to go through the standard process for responding to submissions. However, if submissions are made through the portal, we can address them immediately and make decisions accordingly.”
The government has designated the allocation of flats as follows: 4,000 flats for registered residents of Male', 1,500 flats for individuals living in Male' who are not registered residents, and an additional 2,400 flats allocated for special categories.
As flat projects have been awarded to various companies and as some projects have already started, the government stated that said projects will be completed and handed over in the middle of 2028.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the government has decided to allocate 25,000 land plots from Rasmale', which is currently being reclaimed as part of efforts to address the housing shortage. However, only 15,000 plots will be issued in the first phase.
