The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has given applicants seven days to correct and resubmit information provided in their applications for the “Boahiyaavahikan Emmenah” (Housing for All) scheme, the government's first housing project.

Under the “Boahiyaavahikan Emmenah” scheme, the application period for plots and flats in the Greater Male' region closed on June 15. A total of 58,505 applications were submitted through the Boahiyaavahikan Portal, including 35,930 applications for flats and 22,575 for plots.

The ministry stated that during the form verification stage, the applicant will be informed via the "Boahiyaavahikan Portal" if the information provided on the application forms do not match the information sent from government administrations and councils to the ministry.

If the notice in the portal states that the information that was provided is not legitimate, the applicant will be given a 7-day period to submit the relevant details and documents.

The ministry said applicants will be notified of any changes or updates to their applications through the portal via SMS to the mobile number provided in their application.

If there is no response to the issue highlighted within the 7-day period, the application will be deemed to not have its requirements fulfilled or having a lack of submitted documents.

The ministry said it will not accept responses submitted by email, letter or any other means.

This housing scheme has seen the highest number of forms submitted out of any government housing scheme.

The government has designated the allocation of flats as follows: 4,000 flats for registered residents of Male', 1,500 flats for individuals living in Male' who are not registered residents, and an additional 2,400 flats allocated for special categories.

As flat projects have been awarded to various companies and as some projects have already started, the government stated that said projects will be completed and handed over within the remaining two years of the government's term.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said the government has decided to allocate 25,000 land plots from Rasmale', which is currently being reclaimed as part of efforts to address the housing shortage. However, only 15,000 plots will be released in the first phase.
