A Lamborghini crashed into solar panels along the Hulhumale' Bridge highway this morning, with two people taken to hospital for treatment.

Maldives Police Service said the accident was reported at 8:42am.

The car hit the steel supports holding the solar panels, causing the supports to bend and the panels to fall.

The vehicle overturned and was badly damaged in the crash.

Police said an adult and a child were in the car at the time of the accident and were taken to Tree Top Hospital for treatment. Neither sustained serious injuries, police said.

Video footage from the scene shows a man and a young boy getting out of the vehicle after the crash.

Police are investigating the incident.
