Last night, State Trading Organization (STO) introduced a portable scanner from world-renowned brand GE HealthCare, known for producing ultrasound scanning machines, to the Maldives.
The ceremony took place at JEN Maldives Malé by Shangri-La, with the "Vscan" being introduced by STO CEO and Managing Director Shimad Ibrahim, and GE HealthCare South Asia Head of Sales Jagdish Babu.
STO stated that the new models will change how scanning services are offered, and will serve an important role in closely serving those who may be too ill to physically go to consultation rooms.

The models allow scanning by connecting it to Apple and Android phones and laptops, with image sharing capabilities being included as well.
GE HealthCare, a company popular amongst radiologists, said that they trained engineers specifically for each model for servicing and strengthening the scan machine. There are certified engineers for scanner models such as the MRI, CT, mammography and ultrasound.
STO said the device is a milestone in their continued efforts in bringing innovative products to Maldivians.
