A total of 228 cases of abuse and violence against women, children and vulnerable people were reported in July, the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare has said.
According to statistics released by the ministry, child abuse accounted for the largest number of cases, with 88 reports recorded last month.
Neglect was the most commonly reported form of child abuse, with 22 cases involving six boys and 16 girls.
Sexual abuse was the second most common category, with 17 cases reported. Of these, three involved boys and 14 involved girls.
Other reported cases included:
- 14 cases of psychological abuse
- Seven cases of physical abuse
- One case of cyber exploitation
- Four cases of blackmail
- Four cases of bullying
- One case of cyberbullying
A total of 54 cases of gender-based violence or domestic violence were also reported, most of them involving physical violence.
The ministry recorded 27 cases of physical assault against women and five cases involving men. Psychological abuse was the second most common form of gender-based or domestic violence, with 12 cases reported.
