Former Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Vice-President Yazmeed Mohamed has been appointed chief executive officer of the Maldives Pension Administration Office.

Yazmeed will begin his five-year term next Sunday, the Pension Office said.

He has held senior positions in the public and private sectors for more than 20 years, including Vice-President of the JSC, a Member of the Anti-Corruption Commission and Manager at the Auditor General's Office.

Yazmeed holds a master's degree in management from the Open University of Malaysia and a first-class honors degree in accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

The Pension Office said his appointment is expected to strengthen the office's administrative management and support efforts to establish a strong and sustainable pension system in the Maldives.

The position became vacant after Shujatha Haleem resigned in February.

Haleem resigned amid criticism over the Pension Office's investment of MVR 2.4 billion in a government bond.
