Maldives and Russia have agreed to strengthen air connectivity between the two countries, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Ameen has said.

In a post on X, Minister Ameen said the agreement was reached following discussions with Russian Transport Secretary Dmitry Zverev in Moscow.

“Russia is expected to increase carriers to the Maldives, which will further support tourism and connectivity,” Ameen said.

Russia has been one of the Maldives' largest tourist source markets for several years and remains the second-largest source market, according to Tourism Ministry statistics released today.

A total of 198,748 Russian tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.
