Prosecution has appealed to the Supreme Court against a lower court ruling that found SJ Company's bids for housing projects on three islands were wrongly disqualified.

The National Tender Board had disqualified SJ from bidding for government housing projects in Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo, Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaranfaru and Thaa Vilufushi in February 2021.

SJ subsequently filed a case in the Civil Court, which ruled that the company's bids had been wrongly disqualified.

The Prosecution appealed the ruling to the High Court, which upheld the Civil Court's decision in June. The prosecution then filed appeals with the Supreme Court last month.

The Supreme Court has yet to decide whether to accept the appeals.

In its ruling, the Civil Court ordered the reevaluation of the bid for the Hanimaadhoo housing project, with SJ's bid included in the assessment.

For the Nolhivaranfaru and Vilufushi projects, the court ruled that SJ was entitled to seek damages over the failure to evaluate its bids.
