Maldives Customs Service has announced the recruitment of 26 Assistant Officer Trainees, with those who have completed the National Service Programme also eligible to apply.

Many young people have participated in the government's national service programme since its introduction, with some subsequently joining the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service and other government agencies.

Customs is seeking 26 Assistant Officer Trainees for various offices within the agency.

The positions are open to applicants aged 18 to 30, including those who turn 30 by August 24.

The basic salary for the position is MVR5,000. Successful applicants will also receive an allowance of MVR4,660, a daily attendance allowance of MVR75, overtime and holiday pay, and other benefits amounting to a total of MVR 11,000.

Applicants must have at least a D grade in two O-level subjects or an equivalent qualification, at least a C grade in the Secondary School Certificate examination, and pass a physical fitness test conducted by Customs.

Applicants may also qualify with a Level 3 qualification in a field related to Customs work, provided they have at least a C grade in O-level Dhivehi, or have completed the National Service Programme or another national programme related to Customs work and obtained a relevant certificate.
