A man has been arrested in Sh. Milandhoo last night due to attempted assault with a machete following someone calling his wife fat.

Sources state that he planned the attack due to anger from a back-and-forth dialogue on social media where his wife was being called fat.

Along with the 22-year-old husband, the 31-year-old man involved in the incident was arrested as well.

The court released the 31-year-old due to a lack of evidence, but the court ordered a 12-day remand for the 22-year-old. Both of them are being charged with the alleged attempt at assault with sharp objects.

According to the Milandhoo Magistrate Court, the 22-year-old went to the 31-year-old's residence armed with a machete and allegedly intended to assault him.

The court order reads that witness statements confirm that he brandished the machete at someone else at the scene and warned them, with him hiding the machete under the seat of a motorcycle when the police arrived.

According to the court order, police that arrived on the scene found the machete in the seat compartment, along with two more knives.

The court order further states that the threshold for a crime had been crossed, there had been shouting at the scene, and the 22-year-old was under the influence of narcotics. It also states that he confessed to other allegations during the remand hearing.
