The Addu City Council has opened a public consultation on a proposal to develop a waterfront in the pushcart (gaadiyaa) area of Hithadhoo.

The council is conducting an online survey to gather public opinion on the proposed development. The survey is open to Addu residents and people currently living in Addu, the council said.

According to designs released by the council, the proposed waterfront would include monuments, car and motorcycle parking, recreational areas, benches, walking and running paths, a skate park, public toilets and kiosks. The concept also includes a jetty for vessels.

The council has also released drawings showing the proposed waterfront design.

A meeting was held last week to seek public views and consult residents on the concept.

The council has not yet announced further details about the proposed project.
