Lawyer Adam Shameem has been appointed as the Chief Judicial Administrator.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) announced that Shameem, Malaaz, Dhaalu Maaemboodhoo, was deemed qualified for the position and received the highest marks in the interview among the candidates who applied.

JSC had previously said 10 candidates applied for the post.

Shameem, who was part of former President Abdulla Yameen's legal team during his money laundering and bribery trials, was serving as an under-secretary at the President's Office before his appointment.

The position of Chief Judicial Administrator became vacant following the resignation of Amjad Musthafa on April 20. Amjad has since been appointed President of the Employment Tribunal.
