A person from Raa Atoll Ungoofaaru has found what is believed to be a piece of white ambergris while at sea.

The object was discovered last Friday by a person who was travelling in a dinghy, according to a resident of the island.

A source close to the person who found the object said on social media that the suspected ambergris weighs approximately 9kg.

The person has travelled to Sri Lanka to have the object tested, according to information shared on social media.

Ambergris has been found in various parts of the Maldives in the past.

An ambergris weighing around 300–400 grams was found last year.

Some people have reportedly earned millions after selling ambergris, while others have discarded objects they believed to be ambergris after tests showed they were not.
