Jameela Ali Khalid has been nominated for appointment as the Maldives' high commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Her nomination has been sent to Parliament and referred to the Foreign Relations Committee for consideration.

Jameela, who has held several government positions, currently serves as an ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She served as the Maldives' first resident ambassador to Germany from 2017 to 2019. She also served as vice-president of the Civil Service Commission.

The position of Maldives high commissioner to the UK became vacant after Iruthisham Adam was appointed foreign minister in April.
