The Criminal Court has concluded the hearings for the case regarding the charges against Saahil Ali for the brutal killing of a young woman named Shiau Mohamed Saeed, with preparations for the sentencing to be heard soon.

Shiau Mohamed Saeed of Fuvahmulah City was killed in a Male' residence in August 2022. Police later determined that her body had been mutilated after death. The prosecution pressed five different charges against Saahil, of Finifenmaage, F. Nilandhoo.

The Criminal Court stated that Saahil has been convicted of two out of five charges, for which he has been given a prison sentence of 3 years, 1 month and 6 days. The Prosecutor General's (PG) Office has stated that hearings for the other three charges have been concluded by the Criminal Court last week.

The PG Office said that sentencing will be carried out within one month.

The hearings in the case are being conducted behind closed doors. Both the trial and the charges have been kept confidential at the prosecution's request.
