State Minister of Homeland Security, Dr Abdulla Fairoosh, has resigned from the post today. 

Fairoosh, who previously served as Assistant Commissioner of Police, stated in a post on X that after deep consideration, he has decided to resign from his State Minister position. He stated that he believes this is the right time to bring to a close the chapter of working in public service. 

This administration initially appointed Fairoosh as a State Minister at the Higher Education Ministry. He was transferred to Homeland Security Ministry in October 2024. 

Fairoosh resigned from Maldives Police Service in 2021. He then entered politics, working alongside MNP's presidential candidate Mohamed Nazim in the most recent presidential election.
