A Maldivian man has been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a Bangladeshi man in Male', police said today.

Police said they received a report on Thursday night that a Bangladeshi man had been kidnapped by a group of people.

A 36 year old Maldivian man was arrested yesterday in connection with the case.

Police said the Bangladeshi man was rescued and is in good condition.

The investigation is ongoing, with police working to identify and apprehend others allegedly involved in the kidnapping.

There have been several reported cases involving the kidnapping of expatriates in recent months.

In March, an expatriate was allegedly kidnapped and tortured at a building under construction in Hulhumale'. Several expatriates were arrested in connection with that case.

In February, an expatriate was also arrested for allegedly kidnapping another expatriate.
