Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef has stated that "PGO 2.0" will expedite both services from the Prosecutor General's (PG) Office and their tasks.
While speaking at the inauguration ceremony held this morning at Barceló Nasandhura, Shareef said this digital transformation vision will see completion within two years, and will bring an end to forms not being able to be submitted to the office and portal inaccessibility.
Shareef said that with this system, bringing letters to the PG Office counter will come to an end, and that services sought will not be delayed.
Shareef went on to say that when all matters related to PGO 2.0 is completed, all of their services will be made available on a mobile application within 24 hours without any service interruptions.
Shareef stated that while the PG Office has 199 staff, 140 of them have not received the devices they requested that will allow them to work via mobile. However, with the inauguration of today's project, a system will be arranged where all of their staff will receive devices allowing them to work with a mobile within 100 days, said Shareef.
"The benefit of the mobile devices is for staff to be able to work anywhere from the "Mafini" system. The staff would not necessarily have to physically go into the office and they can serve the public wherever they are," said Shareef.
According to Shareef, the PG Office does not have a backup server outside their premises but this will also be done within 100 days.
"With PGO 2.0, we hope to make the PG Office the prime legal office in 2028 that has digitalized prosecution tasks, with court filings moving forward at 60 percent higher than the current rate with the aid of Artificial Intelligence (AI)," Shareef said.
As an example, Shareef said when the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sends 25 files after an investigation to press charges, it takes two to three months to conduct research into the files. However, he said that with PGO 2.0 and the inbuilt AI technology, research can be completed within one day.
Shareef said that even though AI is being used, it does not mean the PG Office is trying to eliminate "human power" from their efforts, and that the technology is being used as a convenience for the prosecutor's tasks and as an aid.
PGO 2.0 began under a special two-year digital transformation policy, and is a project meant to change all of the work done by the PG Office from paper to a digital system.
